    Italian Time

Art and crafting has always been part of my life, for as long as I can remember I have been fascinated with creating objects with my hands. My mother was the first person to show me the possibility of turing the most ordinary objects into something extraordinary.  Whether it was her gorgeous gingerbread houses during the holidays, or the beautifully wrapped gifts which, often time the receiver did not even want to open for fear of ruining it, I have always been taught to appreciate the small pleasures in life and to seek my passion.

I have always felt that fashion and art are direct and absolute influences of each other; I strongly believe that art in the many forms it takes on should be part of our everyday lives, rather than something that is confined within the walls of a gallery or a designated "art space." Therefore, my hope is to combine these concepts and create work that represents my love for beautiful images and objects.

Living in the city of Florence for the past 10 years, give or take, has further developed my appreciation for all things handmade as well as the Italian passion for craftsmanship. One of my favorite things to do is walk through the artisans quarters of the city and see the artists hard at work gold-leafing hand carved wooden frames or restoring 16th and 17th century furniture or hand marbling Florentine paper.  I am equally as  fascinated by the juxtaposition of the of the contemporary art galleries and studios sprinkled throughout this same area of town allowing me access to a broad perspective of the creative process.

Just a short walk over the Ponte Vecchio and I am in one of the most important fashion cities in the world with everything from the most important and influential fashion designers to the small boutiques filled with handmade treasures.  All of this plus my love of all things girly has influenced my work and my new adventure.

I have decided to give this project the name Bread  N' Butter Designs because my hope is that this is what it will become.  There is nothing that I would love more than to be able to go to work everyday to do what I love.
